Blinding

That perfect world is shattered,
one I had grown to believe,
where hopes and dreams would conspire,
like some miracle after a prayer

The scar is too deep,
and I hate to recognize,
that life ain't a sitcom,
where pretty girls are sweet

Hey! That, that moment of brilliance,
that just went past me,
wasn't that a flash,
of what could have been

But I dare pause not,
to feel that lump in my throat,
and tread carefully I must,
around the glass scattered beneath,
shining, shining right back at me
